Scholarship for College Students

ISGH has launched a Scholarship Program to help the youth in college. The Scholarship will be given based upon a student’s ability to incorporate different aspects of Islam. The first of many competitions will be held at Masjid Taqwa(Synott) on Nov 5. This scholarship is open to any current high school student, college student or graduate school student. Applicants must be legal permanent resident of the United States.

An opportunity for students to exhibit their leadership and speaking skills. The event will take place on the following date and location:

Date: Saturday, November 5th, 2011Time: 10:00am – 4:00 p.m.

Topic: Fighting Temptations as a Muslim Youth

Application Closing Date: October 29, 2011

Location: Masjid Attaqwa Synott

Winner PrizesFirst Place: $2000

Second Place: $1500

Third Place: $1000

Contestants will deliver a speech on a topic assigned. The length of the speech should be approximately 5-7 minutes and bear an accurate reflection of the level of proficiency in topic. Speakers will be judged on elements laid out in the judges. The speech should be original and recommended to be on a topic related to the speaker’s own personal interests, background, or experience. Students are encouraged to be able to recite their speech from memory, and will receive higher ratings for doing so. Teachers and/or parents may assist students in writing and preparing their speech before the contest, provided they keep the above criteria in mind.
